Chris Rogers

Chris is a London based cinematographer & operator with a penchant for tattoos, motorbikes & punk.

After 3 years working as a nursing assistant in the NHS Chris moved to London and shifted careers, joining the camera team at Rankin. After 2 years of high fashion, a passion for storytelling and larger scale production drew him into the world of film and commercials. For ten years he worked internationally as a 2ndAC for cinematographers such as John Mathieson BSC, Tim Maurice-Jones BSC & Nicolas Karakatsanis to name a few.

After years of dailies experience, and peer pressure, in 2021 Chris formally stepped up to operating. Credits include A-Camera for Nicola Daley ACS and Nick Remy Matthews on Netflix’s HalfBad and lensing for cinematographers such as David Procter BSC & Vanessa Whyte BSC.

Chris’ passion for true stories led to operating on Sky’s The Devil’s Advocate and additional photography for Netlfix’s The Tinder Swindler both for cinematographer Edgar Dubrovskiy. Chris spent much of 2022 shooting Displaced, a feature documenting the war in Ukraine, sometimes on the front-lines, a role that merged challenging and emotive storytelling with humanitarian work. Also currently in post is feature doc Tides with director Ato Yankey, an exhilarating dive into Ghanian subculture, black magic and the ocean.

Aside carving his name in operating Chris has amassed a diverse body of commercial projects as cinematographer, including promos and live performances for the likes of Bastille, Gabrielle Aplin & AlunaGeorge. Dedicated to image-making he is terrible at self-promotion and has a discerning dislike of writing biographies.
